November 5, 2008 - R.I.P Michael Crichton

By: Crissy with No Comments Filed Under: ER, News & Articles
Prolific novelist and “ER” creator Michael Crichton has passed away. He was 66.

Perhaps best known for being the author of Jurassic Park and its sequel The Lost World, which were turned into a hugely successful movie franchise, his numerous books have sold over 150 million copies worldwide.

In what his family calls an unexpected death, it was revealed that he was waging a private battle against cancer.

“While the world knew him as a great storyteller that challenged our preconceived notions about the world around us — and entertained us all while doing so — his wife Sherri, daughter Taylor, family and friends knew Michael Crichton as a devoted husband, loving father and generous friend who inspired each of us to strive to see the wonders of our world through new eyes,” his family tells ET. “He did this with a wry sense of humor that those who were privileged to know him personally will never forget.”

October 16, 2008 - Maura Tierney Checks Out of ER for Good

By: Crissy with 4 Comments Filed Under: News & Articles
In its final year, ER (Thursdays at 10 pm/ET, NBC) will welcome back some old friends while other cast members make early exits. In the 15th-season premiere, Greg Pratt (Mekhi Phifer) died a shocking death, and Thursday Maura Tierney’s lovable but beleaguered Dr. Abby Lockhart checks out for the last time.

TV Guide: You wanted Abby to be killed off, but she won’t be. So how does she leave?
Maura Tierney: Last year, Abby struggled so much, the writers wanted to send her off with a certain amount of calm and dignity. It’s sweet and funny.

TV Guide: What’s the future for Luka and Abby?
Tierney: I think it’s looking up. We sort of exit together. And there could be a kiss.

TV Guide: Are George Clooney and Julianna Margulies coming back?
Tierney: I’ve heard the rumors. [Laughs] I have no inside information…I want them to come back, too, as a viewer.

TV Guide: What do you want to do next?
Tierney: I’m ready for a sitcom. I always beg Paul Simms, who created NewsRadio, to make a show that I could be in. But he hasn’t done it yet, so a friend and I are developing an hourlong drama.

October 16, 2008 - Maura’s Last ‘ER’ Episode Tomorrow

By: Crissy with 3 Comments Filed Under: Uncategorized

I just wanted to remind everyone that Maura’s last episode of ER airs tomorrow. Screen captures of it will be up on the weekend. Also, Maura was scheduled to be on Regis and Kelly and I recorded the show, but she wasn’t on. I don’t know why she wasn’t there, but hopefully she’s okay.

September 14, 2008 - “Trying to quit smoking is the hardest thing I’ve ever done.”

By: Crissy with No Comments Filed Under: News & Articles

I found this great article that Maura wrote about her smoking habit. You should deff. read it!

I grew up in a haze of smoke. No one in my family concerned themselves too much with nicotine addiction and its attendant diseases. My father lit up at the dinner table and puffed away in the car with the windows rolled up. (The car, incidentally, was a Plymouth Duster without seat belts or a working lock on the passenger-side door. It wasn’t unusual for that door to fly open when we made a left turn; on two such occasions, my sister and I were catapulted out. The phrases “child safety” and “secondhand smoke” didn’t get much play in my house.) But this blithe attitude wasn’t particular to my family. My high school, an all-girl’s Catholic school in a suburb south of Boston, had its very own smoking lounge. A note from your parents—authentic or forged—was all you needed for permission to smoke the day away. Hey, it was the early eighties.
